It is with mixed emotions that the Board of Directors of The ARK

announce the retirement of our Executive Director, Anne Carty,

effective Feb. 28th

Anne began her employment with the ARK in August 2013 as the Program/Assistance Manager. Prior to her joining the ARK family, she was the Manager of Cokesbury Book Store in Nashville for many years. She also served on the ARK Board of Directors for several years prior to becoming Program/Assistance Manager. In December 2020, Anne accepted the position of Executive Director while still maintaining involvement in much of the Assistance programs of the ARK.

Anne's excellent leadership and hands-on work with our incredible staff and board, various churches, schools, and community groups has been invaluable. She has guided our staff and teams expertly in continuing the many ARK programs, including Food Pantry, Utility and Emergency Assistance, Angel Tree, Summer Fuel, School Supply Giveaway, Tax Assistance, Meals on Wheels, Senior Lunches and Noah's Closet- working closely with our partners to identify and provide for the needs of the South Cheatham communities.

Anne will definitely be missed, but has made it clear she will continue her involvement with the ARK and Noah's Closet. She is looking forward to spending more time with her husband, Terry, her two children and spouses, and her 3 grandsons. She plans on travelling more and enjoying the next phase of her life.

We love and appreciate you Anne, and wish you much joy and fun in the future!

It may have crossed your mind as to what it takes to maintain a charity as active and involved in the community as the ARK.

The short answer is dedicated volunteers and staff putting in the time and effort on a daily basis. From picking up and distributing food and care products at the food pantry, promoting and collecting gifts for Angel tree & Back to School giveaways, sorting and pricing donations for Noah’s Closet- the list goes on and on.

The ARK Board works behind the scenes to ensure smooth operations day to day. Approving and monitoring projects and services, community outreach, and long-term planning for the future, among many other duties. Members are all volunteers giving of their time and talents to help their communities.

We’d like to take a minute and recognize and thank the following Board members who have retired in 2022. We appreciate their time, talent and dedication to serving their So. Cheatham neighbors.

Jack Kapanka, along with his wonderful family could often be seen driving the ARK van picking up supplies, helping with Tornado relief, distributing gifts at Christmas, parading down 70 on July 4th, and other services too numerous to mention here.

Joy Foote, who stayed with the board helping with grants and planning even though life moved her to Georgia to live.

Audra Fowler, Principal of Harpeth Middle School, and her husband Justin Fowler, who were and are an integral liaison between the Ark and the schools.

Elke McLeroy, Past Board Chair, who provided boots on the ground whenever she was asked.

The ARK cannot do all it does without the service of dedicated volunteers and staff.

We want to wish these Board members the best in the coming years and say a hearty THANK YOU for your many hours of volunteer service!
